THE Greatest Movie Ever Made!!!!!!

Before everyone starts tearing at my throat over the above statement, let me explain:

Off all the different movie genres, I believe the martial arts film to be the purest & most reliable. How come? It's simple: when you go to a horror movie, you aren't always scared; when you go to a comedy, you don't always laugh; when you go to an action movie, you aren't always excited; however, when you go to see a kung-fu flick, you KNOW that you are going to see some fights & that there will most likely be one really good one. With kung-fu movies the dialogue is usually mediocre at best, the plot is recycled sh*t & the actors aren't always great at...well, acting. All of this is forgiven & even overlooked, however, if the fights are good. You'll never hear anyone say, "That movie couldn't scare a newborn, but the way the characters talked was cool." For this reason I believe that, at a purely cinematic level, Drunken Master is THE greatest movie ever made. I went into this one expecting some killer fights & I was not disappointed. This was no "House of the Dead" (not scary) or "Pootie Tang" (painfully unfunny). Within the first half-hour, "Drunken Master" easily nestled its way into my immense love and admiration for the kung-fu genre.

If you don't agree with me or think I'm crazy...who cares?!

The greatest movie ever made is called the crippled masters.

Tarantino did say kung fu movies (as well as swashbucklers like Errol Flynn films) has action that actually advances the plot, unlike many action movies with superfluous car chases.

The characters in a kung fu movie cannot progress until they defeat a certain foe, and their skill levels and experiences are always at the back of your mind. And because of that, there is something very pure about this genre of film. It is delivering what it is meant to be delivering, showing character growth through numerous battles, and the reason why you show up with a ticket.

While not exactly "the greatest movie ever made" for me, I can see why Drunken Master was a seminal and hugely popular film.
