I caught the last few minutes of this on BBC2 last night, does he die in the end?

I always imagined so.

Definitely not. But for him perhaps a fate worse than death.

I was wrong. He died in the police car. They just hadn't bothered to check and dumped him on the bed.

Actually, he did at the beginning. It just took the entire movie for anyone to notice.
