You mean if Hazel went to Heaven or Hell? I really do not know, I would like to assume that he went to Heaven, because he finally realized that he was NOT clean and he had to pay.

I assume that he simply died. His idea of heaven or hell being merely man made ideas still hold up, even though his indoctrination caught up on him. Which makes his character tragic. He had the right idea yet he could not escape his surroundings and culture.

long time fan of the book, never seen the movie (wanted to wait until there was a decent viewing option before I did), but if the movie follows the same plot as the book O'Connor makes it very clear (after much thorough examination) that Hazel did indeed go to heaven.
