Marjoe man or myth?

What is it with Marjoe?

some odds and ends....

In real life was the worlds youngest evangelist
then single handedly rips this practice to shreds
as as an adult, which as a documenty claims an Oscar
Goes on to have a credible acting carreer during which time
delivers possibly one of the most psychologically demonic
and intense characters ever seen, as Teddy, but today is
an unknown quantity, seemingly lost.

What freaks me a little is apparently Marjoe was
a caesar birth as his umbilical cord was wrapped
around his neck a few times, maybe greater forces
did'nt won't this one on the streets.

most prophetic of all is the title
of this astonishing film, for when
are you coming back, Red Ryder?

sounds like a dedicated fan base is waiting.

He is the result of a horrible upbringing.

His parents took a bright, verbal, musical child and funneled all of his gifts towards their shady business.

I don't think he had much education, other than How to Be an Evangelist Showman and some music training.

What he could have been, if he'd had good schooling, varied childhood experiences, college, maybe a chance to learn more subtlety and skill in the performing arts, etc., who knows?

I also think that the movie industry took him as more of a curiosity than anything else -- he might have done better if offered better roles.

I hope he is doing well and is happy.

He has been manipulated enough. Sure he could've been the next Al Pacino, but he didn't want that. No more public life for Marjoe, mental health is more important, believe me it is, the only thing that is important.

I think he did want to be the next Al Pacino--which is probably why he produced this vehicle for himself based on an acclaimed stage play--but quit when his career couldn't get out of a rut of exploitation movies and TV "guest star" bits. Too bad, since he obviously had the talent and charisma to do better things.

I should have said that he "had" wanted to be the next Pacino but did not wish to play the game the way it was set up in hollywood.

I first "discovered" Marjoe as a kid in the 70's watching cable. Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw, Star Crash, Viva Knievel...he became a fave of mine to this day. He's just great in everything he's in, and I just watched the phenomenal "Red Ryder" for the first time (how did I ever miss this on cable back then) and it blew me away. Would love for Marjoe to make a comeback.

I remember seeing him in a horror movie about demonic possession called MAUSOLEUM. I wonder if he preached about such things earlier in his life?
