Such a lame dated film

Guys walking around in the same dumb outfits acting tough, this is something you do when you're a 10 year old boy.

reply

A lame, dated post.

reply

Aside from the fact that the characters are exaggerated versions of 70's street gangs (even today, most gangs tend to all wear the same colors or display the same symbols), there's also the fact that you're a troll and an idiot who has terrible taste in movies.

Go watch some lame Marvel movie, you bearded four-eyed hipster.

reply

I hate marvel movies.
Try again, condescending prick.

reply

Well, at least we agree that Marvel movies suck.

Still, The Warriors is a great film and there's a bunch of other movie boards on this site you can talk about that you do like. Nobody likes a troll, especially one as obvious as you are.

reply

I am not a troll, I just think the warriors didn't age well at all.

I don't hate the director, I really liked the driver.

reply

Well, we'll just agree to disagree.

The Warriors is very much a product of its time, which is why I love it. It's basically an exaggerated dystopian version of late 1970's New York City (and according to Hill, it's supposed to be set in a dystopian near-future timeline)

Maybe it's because I'm a self-hating Millennial, but I actually like a lot of movies that are trashed nowadays for being "dated" or "edgy" because modern 2010's pop culture doesn't resonate with me

reply

Fair enough.

reply

dated? People do this shit to this very day.

reply

You should look at what the French wore in WWI. Or any military outfit from eras before then. So dated! History is so lame!

reply

Dated:

"I walked among the ruins of ancient Greece and Italy. Toured historical sites of great splendor the world over. It was all so...dated"

reply

Dated? Apparently there was a pre filming meeting between the producers and Walter Hill, they suggested to him that, even though the film was being made now (1979) and they would want to audience of that time (1979) to see the film, would it be possible to make a film that someone in 40 years time would find interesting and not look like it was made in 1979.

reply

Dated is such a stupid insult. Is everything from the past supposed to represent the present too?

reply

^Love this response!^

By their very nature, movies are time capsules of the year they were created. What makes a movie relevant is not how "up-to-date" they are, but whether the viewing audience can relate to/enjoy the characters/ideas/storylines presented within.

reply

It's fantasy, not meant to be realistic. Real gangs don't run around in the sorts of uniforms they wear in the movie, but they really give each gang a unique identity. There's some quotable lines and its consistently entertaining.
