The bowling ally

I live in the Bronx where some of the movie was filmed.

In fact, the scene in which they are on the street playing that bumping game with the girls is about 4 or 5 blocks from my home. The corner is Lydig Avenue and Holland Ave. The area still looks pretty much the same. But most of the storefronts have changed or been updated.

The scene in the park/catacombs where Despie reveals that she is pregnant is also not too far from my home. That is next to St Lucy's Chruch on Bronxwood Av. So is the school which is Columbus HS off of Bronxwood and Mace.

As for the bowling alley, there were so many bowling alleys that closed up since the movie was filmed. I am figuring it may have been Astor Lanes that was located off Astor Avenue and Eastchester Road. It was torn down and made into a medical office building in the late 80s early 90s I believe. In the movie, you can see Paradise Lanes in the background. But I don't recall any bowling alleys called that. There were other former alleys called Playdrome and Fiesta also.

I am wondering where the Galasso house is/was located?

That is indeed the Grotto of St Lucy's Church in response to the other 2 posters.

You are not allowed in there for a long time now.

Unfortunately, there was a fire in there and it was viewed as a fire hazard so they have kept it closed since then.

As for the bowling alley, I have found a PARADISE LANES bowling alley located on Yonkers Avenue not too far from the Thruway I 87 and Yonkers Raceway.

Could this be the same alley? Maybe.........
