Feels like an 'epic' rites of passage film cut down to two hours.

I love the vibe, the characters, the stylized nature. However it feels like the film is truncated.

Does anyone know if there was originally a longer version? Did Kaufman ever allude to this? As I can't watch it without thinking a sh-tload of scenes were cut out due to the demands of the "suits".

Any info/thoughts would be much appreciated.
