Question on NYC reputation

Ive always heard people say that there are neighborhoods in NY that you didnt want to accidentally end up in (back in the 60's,70's, early 80's). I always thought of the Ducky Boys area whenever I thought of this. Does anyone know what areas were the toughest/most dangerous?

I know its true of the old days, such as the five points in the days of the 1850's-60's, but I'm curious about relatively recent years.

Honestly, there's no bad or dangerous neighborhoods in NYC, anymore. Hipsters took over Brooklyn and Harlem along time ago. Now the hipsters are flooding into the Bronx. The South Bronx used to be the worse area of all of NYC...now it's renamed "So-Bro" !!!. It's a shame, but NYC is completely different than pre- 1990s. It's unique, wild, blue collar, tough neighborhoods and reputation is long gone !

Beware of hipsters! Watch out for those tight jeans and huge beards and arm-length tattoos!

There are still plenty of places in Brooklyn and the bronx when night falls you dont want to be walking around.

Mostly around the projects. One I think called the pink houses aka the stink houses Is a place you dont wa t to be
