Question about the rumble

Why did Joey's father punch him in the stomach at the end of the rumble?

reply

He was a *beep* he wanted to stamp his ground a little it was a case of he was was a real hard man when he grew up there were real hard men. Now as he saw it there were just these rotten kids around with there fick knives and no respect much like it is now really !!!! And he just got carried away a little also when it come to it like that your not really looking at people's faces that run at you your just getting stuck in ,I don't think he realy ment to punch him but I don't think he realy gave a *beep* that he did ,If you know what I mean just a old has been stomping his feet trying to show people he's still there

I think he was still so pumped from the fight that he just turns without thinking and whacks whoever is behind him. Emilio is a thug and is the only person at the end who wants the rumble to continue. HE is not fighting for his boy , he is fighting because he loves fighting.

Psycho mode, that's why.

Spoiler alert for them spoil sports out there! Y'all like spoiled milk, stop crying over it!

I was just wondering the same question.

He had lost his rational mind during the fight - he did not realize that it was Joey he had hit. The point of the scene might also probably have been to represent the relationship between Emilio and Joey, which was a distant and uncaring one where Emilio was self-centered.
