First vampire story set in modern day?

Was it?

-Goodnight, mother of six!
-Goodnight, father of two!

reply

No. The nightstalker was set in modern 70's. House of Dark Shadows and Count Yorga also set in 1970's. Dracula AD 1972 and Satanic Rites of Dracula were also set in (then modern) 1970's.

The 1944 movie RETURN OF THE VAMPIRE took place, for then, in "Modern Day."

Even before that, Dracula, the Bela Lugosi film from 1931, was set in the same era it was filmed. The costumes, automobiles and telephones all indicate that it was taking place around 1930.

There are also BLACULA (1972) and SCREAM, BLACULA, SCREAM (1973). Both of which starred William Marshall (better known to Trekkies as "Dr. Daystrom") as Prince Mamuwalde. An 18th-century Ethiopian aristocrat vampirized, and re-named, by Count Dracula, himself. Only to be brought from Transylvania to pre-disco New York, coffin and all, by a bi-racial gay couple for their antique shop!

reply

I believe it's the first wholly unsatisfying vampire movie set in modern day.
