I read the trivia section of the "Tim" page and this is one of the things it said........

The director got word of Mel Gibson's performance in Mad Max and cast him in this film. This film was shot while Mad Max was still in post production.

So this movie was made after Mel shot Mad Max but not yet released.

OK Mad Max was released April 1979, Tim was released July 1979.
