Movie?

Has anyone seen this film? Is it any good? I'm interested in Elizabeth Bathory, though I know this film will have little too do with her, but i'm also a huge fan of vampire films, can anyone give me any info??? The plot was pretty much no help!

It's a modern (1979) take, which focuses on a young woman who is abducted and taken to a kind of 'blood farm' in a small village run by a shady blood cult who subject her to a series of experiments. It seems she's a modern decendant of bathory and the group intends to mix her bloodline with theirs as they are a group of modern vampires who are seeking to move away from the old ways. The plot covers their attempts to induct her into the bloodlust and her attempts to resist.

Although obviously low budget, it has a great atmosphere. In tone, I'd say it's more an art house vampire film like Ferrara's The Addiction or Kumel's Daughters of Darkness (which is my favourite Bathory incarnation). It also reminds me a lot in retrospect of Jean Rollin's work in that it's more concerned with the nature of vampirism and the philosophical implications than the usual thriller mechanics. the modern/science element is a bit "La Vampre Nue" but it is more overtly satirical.

Well worth watching, if you're up for something strange and unique.

It does suffer from the great stain of late 70s an early 80s Ausssie film though - a crap Brian May soundtrack.

It's worth watching it just for the constant references of people being bled for the vampires' purposes as "bloodcows." I can just see a vampire bovine screaming MOOOOO in a death metal style gutteral growl.

I saw this one a couple of years ago and remember bits and pieces. Very atmospheric and intense vampire flick. If memory serves me there is a great scene where she's in a house as it's shaking and it's pretty creepy.

I recall this film as a very different and very atmospheric film. It was on tv about a year ago and I saw a bit of it but I can remember it well enough from the past. Always good to have something a bit different in a familiar genre.
