i was happy because in this movie she doesn't resemble her father klaus kinski. in other movies i feel too reminded of him and this does make nastassja a lot less attractive.
It's intentional. It's to put emphasis on how alike they are! It's done a lot in the newspapers as a joke (probably only in the UK). I did the same thing in the Emily Blunt board:

oh, i didn't get that although it did work on me. when i clicked on the first picture i thought "wow, nastassja looks exactly like ingrid"! nice technique, i've never seen that before though.

I had a discussion with a friend about this resemblance. Both of us agreed that they both look alike, but one difference between the two is that Ingrid Bergman is a dame but that Nastassja Kinski is a heartbreaker.

Well Martin Scorsese couldn't look at Natassja Kinski in any of her films in the 80s because she looked a lot like his ex-wife Isabella Rossellini, who is of course Ingrid Bergman's daughter.

Indeed! Nastassja Kinski in Tess looks like Ingrid Bergman. I've also found resemblances with Irène Jacob and the aforementioned, Isabella Rossellini.
All of them beautiful women. Luckyly Nastassja didn't inherit the looks of his father, Klaus!
