Thomas Edison and JP Morgan - biggest bad guys of the 20th century?

As the end of the movie points out, people like Morgan caused a big step backwards for human civilisation, science and progress. And those selfish decisions affect billions of people worldwide even today.

I don't know if the movie is entirely accurate, yet it really seems as if there is some hidden interest in surpressing clean energy sources for us. I mean, come on, we sent a satellite to Pluto but can not find a clean type of fuel? Give me a break.

It's true, there have been many fantastic scientific discoveries and inventions which have been suppressed by world corporate interests, Wall Street, and Big Oil, in the name of progress, but the real name is greed.
This film dares to speak out about those injustices and show how Tesla was not only a forgotten genius, but a martyr for the cause of science vs. industry.
There is a rather somber tone all throughout this movie, exaggerated even more by the somber synth music score, which is a deliberate device on the part of the director to make this film as a memorial for Nikola Tesla.
In a perfect world, Tesla would have led the way for the glorious technological future predicted by scientists and science fiction writers, but in the real world, we have the status quo maintained by the wealthy industrialists who control the masses and are the power brokers who manipulate world bankers, politicians and entire governments.
A case in point: the destruction and burial of the EV1 electric car by its own manufacturer, General Motors, in 2003, precisely 100 years after Nikola Tesla developed free electrical energy and predicted a world of electric vehicles in a century of progress. He was an idealist living in a world of greedy opportunists.
As P.T. Barnum said so eloquently, "There's a sucker born every minute", and that sucker is Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Smith from Anytown, USA, expecting corporations and the government to give them the free and easy life once promised to us by visionary science fiction writers, but denied to them by greedy executives, politicians and bureaucrats.
This is why our world has not changed much since the 1950s. Oh, the technological toys have become far more advanced in the fields of computers and electronics, but the infrastructure we live in has remained virtually unchanged.

Is it any surprise that Morgan and Edison's General Electric are still chief villeins in today's financial markets? It was reported on History Channel that Tesla's "death ray" actually worked, when tested by the German SS. Morgan and Edison were fortunate men that Tesla was not as vindictive as I. For I honestly believe the world would be a MUCH better place if Tesla had vaporized these two monsters and I would not have hesitated to do so.

That's why I am asking, irishd76. In the movie, it was shown that Tesla had some amazing ideas for inventions that - if implemented - would have assured people cars without fuel, electricity to power houses, TVs, refrigerators, you name it, for free. All the power would come from central power stations that would create it for free, from the universe, without polluting out planet.

But in the movie, after Tesla passed away, Morgan just looked at those drafts and destroyed them because they would mean only one thing - electricity would be free, nobody would be paying for it anymore. It was implied he would be out of business, so he rather chose to continue with the same old fossil fuels. Even today, nothing new came to replace them. We still use them on our cars. The question is now: was it really like that or did the movie take some artistic liberties?

the *beep* does communism have to so with anything anyone said? your as bad as fox shouting terrorist

lol what morgan and edison did has nothing to do with communism, in fact if it had been a communistic system at the time, edison and morgan would not have had the incentive to steal teslas idea, this is a result of the free market and capitalism.
you literally have no idea what communism is yet you use it as some sort of derogatory term.

As a side note, I'd love to know if the movie was accurate in showing Tesla's respect for nature & life, as opposed to Edison who routinely electrocuted dogs & cats in public to show off his great discovery. I guess it goes to show you that nice guys finish last while fortune favors the f* wads
