Highest Body Count of any Trek movie?

two Klingon cruisers, Epsilon 9 Station, Ilia and Decker (maybe)

How many dead is that? Maybe the highest body count until Star Trek 6 and the destruction of the Klingon moon Praxis.

Don't forget Commander Sonak and the female crew member in the transporter accident.

Yep, that's two more corpses to add to the kitty. This film is a freakin' blood bath! LOL.

The Star Trek reboot film (if you count it) wiped out billions of people on Vulcan, (almost) an entire starfleet, a bunch of Romulans, and some red shirts.

I have not seen that one, but I'll take your word for it. Still, it's amazing that ST:TMP has the reputation for being such a dull and uneventful film - and yet people are getting wiped out on an industrial scale.

Pacing makes people say that, not the body count.

I happen to like the methodical pacing. It reminds me of classic sci-fi like 2001 (which this film owes a big debt to).

I saw the reissue of this in the theaters on Monday. I also saw it the theater back in 1979. I enjoyed it a lot.
