Good Sci Fi bad Cinema

The Sci Fi elements and premises are amazing I really like the whole Voyager 6 plot twist ,the effects are great(for the time) but there is little action and it's kinda slow ,they went full 2001 on this but it's watchable. The bald Indian chick turned Cyborg was smokin'🔥🔥🔥hot🔥🔥🔥 (real fetish kink stuff) too bad she didn't had a bigger career(maybe because she was already in her 30s in this RIP) This movie also reminds me of 2010 the 2001 sequel they share many movie tropes and similarities

I've always liked it, both scifi and cinema...

Well audiences at the time didn't...and I can see why ...WoK fixed that. It's not bad though it's interesting and has a huge cult status

It was a bigger box office hit than Wrath of Khan, both domestically and globally. But the cost to make it was a lot more, too. So the profit margin not as impressive. But people flocked to see The Motion Picture.

Unlike the audience in 1979, I really love this slow sci fi movie. It's visually stunning in a lot of ways. The story is like a long version of the TV show (definitely stretched out). My gripe is the costumes. On earth, they look like some kind of roman garb. Spoke shows up on the Enterprise wearing something out of a Shakespeare play. The onesies are not flattering.

The music was brilliant, the visuals were great, much of the acting was solid (some was very bad) and it really should have come out a different year. Star Wars and Superman set a fun pace for Sci Fi and Fantasy.

I remember seeing it in a theater early in its original release in 1979. As the music started and the main cast members' and Roddenberry's name appeared on the screen, the whole audience cheered and applauded. Fans were really, really excited to see this. A couple of hours later, when it was over and people left the theater, it was quiet and disappointment was the mood.

The visual effects were terrific. It was great to see the original cast again, and only ten years after the tv show ended they didn't seem much older. But the movie was long and plodding. The new uniforms were ugly. The Enterprise interior was beige, dim, and bland. The Klingons had been turned into freaks. There was little trace of the original Alexander Courage music. And the bald chick--somebody's bad idea--didn't help.

I liked the bald chick. She was hot.
If anything, it's a look more girls should try.
