was Persis Khambatta murdered?

Too bad it's largely speculative. Why would Khambatta suddenly be murdered fourteen years after Indira Ghandi unless she had become a vocal oppositional voice which it doesn't sound like that was the case. Ghandi most likely had lots of famous supporters. What would her enemies stand to gain by killing an actress/model who supported her?
