As an absolute last resort, a logical alternative into discipline the "child" could've been to spank Ilia-probe. Ten, maybe twenty times, increasing in momentum. Just enough to execute normal functions.

Those microprocessor chips gave Ilia-probe bigger buttocks. Ok I'm done now, sorry haha

I think probe-based units misinterpret spanking as a hostile action. 
