Does anyone out there know whether the series is available with English subtitles on DVD and where I might find it in the UK?

Hi. You may definitely find all these movies and subtitles to them with Emule.
E.g. movie "Treasures of Agra", CD1 has the following ed2k link:

try tpb, some but not can be seen there. eBay could also be your friend

It crops up on eBay sometimes, but I can't help but wonder if some Russian DVD company online doesn't just let you purchase it.

Go to [email protected] and ask them to work on the Apu trilogy and Sholay.

Russiandvd.com has them. They are NTSC format but no regional lockout.
