Boom Mic Instructional Video

This film can teach film students where NOT to place a boom mic when filming...in the frame!
The visible boom mic became a character in the film, I thought that it may be the boom that was behind the mask.

The boom mic shots look like they are there because this film was shot open matte with the intention of being matted to 1.85:1 when shown. It looks like the full frame version is not cropped, hence there's a lot of clearance at the top of the frame. You were never supposed to see the top of the shot.

I, of course, don't let that happen!

You were born a pig farmer.
You'll always BE a pig farmer.
And now, you will DIE a pig farmer.

Sansho the Bailiff's great aunt Lopudia thought as much.

What is the sound an imploding pimp makes?

You can matte the image if you watch this on a computer with VLC media player. The boom is gone in all but one scene.

I'll torture you so slowly, you'll think it's a career.

I agree. I had the same thought. Every time the Boom came in the shot was was like "BOOOOOM!" (like NOOOORM! From Cheers)
