DVD release?

In spite of all the boom mic shots (as I remember from being 12 when I saw this) are there any plans to release this on DVD? To me these super low-budget, shot in a weekend horror films of the 70's, like this movie and Snuff, were the goriest and scariest, but maybe it was because I was so young.

However, despite the improvements in effects I think they still stand up.

why would you want it on DVD?

"why would you want it on DVD?"

Boobies and Gore, man. What else? This one was a great.

I just watched this last night. Not bad for what it is, except the "horror" doesn't really begin until last third of the film. Still the film has a eery quality to it. I have it from Mill Creek's 50 (12 DVDs) pack of Drive In Movie Classics. It's also on a 100 Pack called Horror Classics. These sets are a real find for anyone who can appreciate films like SW and some of much lesser quality. SW is actually one of the better looking film prints on this set. Go to www.millcreekent.com for all their stuff.

@keeponwithbrian -- Do you know if the version of 'Savage Weekend' on the Mill Creek's 50 (12 DVDs) pack of 'Drive In Movie Classics' is the uncut version or the heavily censored version? I have heard that the stand-alone DVD release (from Cheezy Flicks Ent.) has been heavily cut and edited. I hate censorhip.

Scream Factory or some other blu ray/dvd company needs to get a hold of this and put out the uncut version in its proper aspect ratio (those boom mics shouldn't be seen and makes the film look worse when the director didn't mean for us to even see them).

I agree.
I am fairly certain (though not entirely sure) that the version on the Mill Creek Drive-in pack is uncut. Do you happen to know?

I watched the cut version last year and loved it... rewatching on the dvd pack now and I've already noticed a couple of positive differences, although the aspect ratio jumps back and forth from pan and scan to widescreen during the opening credit sequence.

The boom mic shots look like they are there because this film was shot open matte with the intention of being matted to 1.85:1 when shown. It looks like the full frame version is not cropped, hence there's a lot of clearance at the top of the frame. You were never supposed to see the top of the shot.

Anyone post any time markers as to when the boom mikes show up (ie 37:42 for minutes and seconds - it's on youtube)

Kino Lorber just announced on their Facebook page that they are releasing this film in both formats on September 29. Extras are interviews with cast members William Sanderson, Caitlin O'Heaney, and Jeff Pomerantz, plus the theatrical trailer.
