Thanks Cclh2 for the link. I'd long ago given up on seeing a clean version of this film again. I have a really faded dub someone left me almost 2 decades ago. If there are masterpieces this film certain qualifies.

Now I have to understand what region 2 is.

Thanks.

Region 2 means that it can only be played on European DVD players, unless you have a region-free DVD player or have hacked your normal US DVD player to make it region free.

For anyone considering buying the AE edition, it has one very significant extra for godard fans: the 'Scenario' for the film, a 20 minute video piece by Godard on how he intends to make the film, the techniques he'll use and what the intended meanings are. He did four such 'scenario' films or video outlines for features he made in the 80s, and this is the only one so far that I've been able to obtain. The New yorker dvd of Hail Mary also has the scenario for that film, but (1) the DVD is now out of print (2) NEw yorker has closed down :-(

The scenario for 'Passion' in 1982 is supposed to be particularly useful and insightful (Jonathan Rosenbaum even went so far as to put it in his list of 1000 favourite films in his book 'Essential Cinema', over the feature itself).
