Spoilers: What about the rest of the town?

Okay, so the house was burnt to the ground along with those who were infected by Barlow. One thing I don't understand is, who would be left to be hunting and stalking the two guys besides the girlfriend? Were there others that weren't in the house? Did the innkeeper and her former husband turn into vampires? What about the teacher recovering from the heart attack and the hospital staff? Would they eventually join the undead? Are we to assume that there were other vampires living in other parts of Salem's Lot and were not required to take up residence in the old house?
