Salem's Lot is the greatest horror movie of all time!

This movie scared the blank out of me my entire life. The vampires in this movie are truly horrific, they don't care, have no personality, and are simply outrageously scary!

It is because of IMDB and the posters on here that I am able to finally overcome my fear of this movie as an adult. That and watching it on dvd and Blu ray ten straight times of course.

Many people on here have helped me to discover that I'm not the only one who suffered from fear as a child because of this movie and I want to thank you all.

Don't believe I did all that much but you're welcome. I never saw the movie as a child, as I was 28 when it was first broadcast, so it did not have same effect on me as it did on some of you. The only scenes that were really frightening to me was Ralphie Glick outside Danny's window. Barlow for some reason, did not really bother me but Ralphie did even as an adult. At least at first.

It is a very good film and I enjoyed it and I have enjoyed discussing it with almost all of you as well. It is sad that the discussion boards are ending, largely, I suspect, because of the trolls and moderating them was and is expensive.

In any event, I am on facebook and I use my real name here, so hopefully whoever wants to, can remain in contact with me.

I won't say the greatest, but it certainly scared me the most. This film introduced me to this site when I first learned of the internet.

Finally watching this thing for I’m on a 70s made for TV horror kick.i did read the book in high school back when it was published but this mini series is flat as a pancake.
Great cast ( for the most part) and score but so cliche and corny
I guess I had to be 8 years old in 1979 to be affected by this mess

One of the scariest sequences was the young vampire boy scratching at the window. That was horrific!

reply

Not really. The design of the vampire and the house look good. But the movie itself is just boring honestly.

I disagree. It is a very good horror movie, but I think Donkey Kong is the greatest horror movie of all time.

reply

Maybe the greatest American TV horror movie of all time. There was a time when the major TV networks used to make those, like Satan's School For Girls, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. Salem's Lot might be the best of those.
