Sacketts

In the user comments, echurch, "what a waste of a great cast", wondered if the movie had been cut. I just saw "The Sacketts Go West", special feature on the Sacketts DVD, and Jim Byrnes said it was originally a 6-hour script. So you're right, it was cut. I really like the movie, I've seen it several times, but there are a couple places that leave you wondering if you missed something. Like when Orrin shows up with Laura's scarf. The movie never says how he got it.

Does anyone know why they combined the two novels into one movie? "The Daybreakers" alone could have filled 4 hours. Why would they try to squeeze two novels into such a short amount of time? All three brothers (omitting the other two who were in the novels) weren't even together on screen for that much time.

That's mentioned in the featurette--it was a discreet way to hint that Orrin and Laura had spent the night together, without coming right out and showing it.
