Not a Bad Movie.

Must have saw this upon its release & I remember liking it. It was his fascination with running that drew me into it & how it seemed to ease his daily frustrations & such. We all have things that do that for us, well sometimes. Don’t agree with the IMDB description of this where it says his children lost all respect for him. From what I remember he loved his kids & his daughter in the film who was a cute kid loved him very much. His dream of competing in the marathon became our dream & hope too.

Loved the ending because it was something that I didn’t see coming but the best thing about it was that former coach of his who was critical of him for being a quitter, I expected him not to care when Douglas’s character tried to finish the race, even a day later but was surprised that he was excited to see him cross the finish line & was there cheering him on, that he forgave him for quitting in the past.

Especially all the runners of the race who also were there cheering him on, who didn’t consider the race over until the last man crossed the finish line. That was true solidarity which truly moved me, it touched me because don’t we all need to be forgiven for giving up at times too? After all in the end it’s all about the people who are there at our personal finish lines to support us. Nice film.
