We're a Couple of Misfits

Is anybody else ticked off at Rudolph and Frosty singing the Misfit Song? In my eyes, that's a sacred Rudolph-Hermey song. I'm already ticked that they replaced Hermey with Frosty as Rudolph's best friend, but this just really irks me.

Count me in as being irked. Borrowing from previous specials is a sign of being lazy and lack of originality.Surely they could've come up with something new for Frosty and Rudolph

Yeah, well, who asked you? I really like this movie and consider it to be one of the best Rankin/Bass specials, along with The Year Without A Santa Claus, Frosty's Winter Wonderland, Rudolph's Shiny New Year, the original Rudolph and Frosty specials, Jack Frost, Frosty's Winter Wonderland, the original Little Drummer Boy (Book II stinks, though), and Santa Claus is Comin' to town. As for the continuity, I think it's really neat since they brought back a lot of the characters I know and love from the previous specials (and the actors to back up their voices). It's like Disney's House of Mouse. The story is also unique and I like a lot. Besides, there are worse stuff to watch (like the already mentioned Little Drummer Boy Book II, Pinocchio's Christmas, and the Lerpuchans' Christmas Gold (I mean, combining Christmas with St. Patrick's Day? Come on!).) Say what you will, but this is one of my favorite Rankin/Bass specials and I'll keep watching it every Christmas season :)

It doesn't even make any sense. How is Frosty a misfit?

reply

Actually up until the ninety's Hermie and Rudolph sang "Fame and Fortune". "We're a couple of Misfits" only aired in 1964 until it was restored in the special. When this movie aired, it was still "Fame and Fortune". To answer the OP.

How is a walking & talking snowman not a misfit?

You are very alone on that. Also, it appears that you have a lot of favorites.

He's not alone, just look at the post asking for responses from others who love this movie, and yes, ALL the Rankin and Bass movies and specials are better than anything that they're putting out today. I love this movie, even if it's not the best thing that they've done. Although it's still up there, in my opinion. Like I said in a previous post, I would rather watch the worst of Rankin and Bass than the best of all the new multimillion dollar garbage movies churned out by Hollywood by the thousands.

Actually, some of them are garbage. I am a Rudolph fan, but this thing is horrendous. You sound quite old and bitter. There are some excellent, high-end productions happening now. "Churned out by Hollywood"? Where TF do you think Rankin-Bass factory-assembled their stuff? (Granted, the Animagic was done in Japan, but it was all for the "Hollywood" system/TV networks.)
