It's also Joan Crawford's house in "Mommie Dearest" - at least the rear exterior is the same... LOL

And now for something completely different...

It´s also the Colby Mansion in "The Colbys" and the parents house of Donna Martin in Beverly Hills 90210.

The mansion in Roller Boogie is the same house used on the Dynasty spinoff, The Colbys (in which it was referred to as "Belvedere"). It's the Jay Paley residence designed by noted African-American architect Paul Williams, and is featured in the book Paul R. Williams: Classic Hollywood Style by Karen E. Hudson. The house, built in 1936 and updated in 1945, currently belongs to Barron Hilton (he was the owner at the time of filming of The Colbys, as well). It located at 1060 Brooklawn Drive, Bel Air, Los Angeles, CA.

You can read a bit about it at this site devoted to the architect's work:

http://www.paulrwilliamsproject.org/gallery/1930s-houses/

The house looks somewhat different now (more elegant) than it did in Roller Boogie thanks to changes in landscaping and the removal of contrasting shutters outside the windows which shows off the proportions of the house more nicely, but the intricately designed courtyard, the arch over the main doors, and so on are the same. For the update see:

You can see it from the air by typing 1060 Brooklawn Drive, Bel Air, CA into Google Maps. Beverly Garland also mentions in a biography that it was filmed at the Hilton estate and she also mentions the intricate inlay of the pool.

The house is often mistaken with that of Conrad Hilton, which was used in many films as well, including Scruples (1980), starring Lindsay Wagner. That house started life as "Casa Encantada" (commonly known as "the Weber mansion") and has a fountain in the courtyard.

The Mommie Dearest house is also completely different. See:

I had this movie on my DVR for a while and finally got to see it first time about a week ago. The scene at the beginning where Terry is coming down the stairs to see her parents in the dining room immediately caught my attention. That is the same house that was used as Kelly's parents house in Breakin' 2. I was able to get B2 on DVR this past weekend and was able to do a comparison. You see that exact staircase and dining room in the scene where Turbo and Ozone have dinner with Kelly and her parents. What I noticed is just about everything in that dining room is pretty much the same as it was 5 years earlier in Roller Boogie. The same light fixtures on the walls, the carpet on the staircase is the same blue carpet. The woodwork is exactly the same in the dining room as well as the dining room table and chairs. The curtains are the same.....AND the same painting of a sailboat on the back wall of the dining room.

Is this an actual residence or a house on a back lot? Seeing that its been used for quite a few productions over the course of a decade, man that had to get tiresome for the residents there. What was it about that house that it was used so much?
