Still a Double KO.

Even though Rocky got back to his feet before the 10 count, he still needed to convince the ref that he could continue the fight. Considering that he fell throwing a punch and needed 9 and a half seconds to get up its doubtful the ref would let him continue. And even when he was on his feet, he was way to wobbly, and even collapsed a second later on his trainer. No ref would have deemed him able to continue. IRL Hagler/Hearns, Hearns got back to his feet, but then collapsed on the ref, who stopped the fight. And since Creed didn't beat the 10 count, its a double knock out.

mmm, interesting - I believe boxers put their fists up to guard in real fights also.

If real matches were anything like the Rocky fights, boxing would have about a 90% mortality rate.

reply

And it would be popular again.

Interesting, I read somewhere else that it wouldn't have mattered if Rocky could get back on his feet or not, it was his punch that sent them both to the ground and by that point all that mattered is whether Apollo could get back up. (If he gets up the match continues, if he doesn't he loses)

reply

Once Apollo didn’t get up by 10... the fight was over.

Yes, you need to convince the ref you can continue when your opponent is ready to fight....but that wouldn’t apply here.
