How come I could never get into Rocky 2? Uninterested...

Rocky 1 is my all-time favorite movie. Rocky 4 is right next to it. I own those two and Rocky Balboa which is OK.

2, 3 and 5 aren't that great to me. Even 5 I feel like I like more than 2 and 3.

I talked to a friend and he really liked Rocky 2. What am I missing? 3 is pretty cut and dry why not to like it.

Am I missing something with Rocky 2?

Just seemed like an unnecessary continuation of the first one. Most of the story strictly focused on Rocky and Apollo's growing rivalry. Apollo wanting to settle the score. I don't know it's just one of those sequels that I didn't care for very much. Why is that?

Recently decided screw it, I don't think I ever gave Rocky 2 a fair shake.

It's a very good movie but not one I'd watch over and over like Rocky 1 and Rocky 4. I do think there's like too much Adrian in this one as I saw another person say. It's just not great but still good.

Keep in mind, Rocky is a love story. Definitely why it won the Oscar. Rocky II continues that. It's when we get to III and beyond that the boxing takes center stage.

Maybe this has something to do with it.

Watching again for the first time in a LONG time. What I'm loving? The humor. Stallone wrote some FUNNY stuff! All character based.

Rocky II is probably my fourth favorite rocky. I like the first and third almost equally (they're hard to separate, but III is certainly the most fun imo), while Rocky IV is my third fav.

Stallone said the best thing about Rocky II was the end fight and training montage, which he considers better than the original (it is a tremendous, titanic fight).

I think this movie does well at advancing the characters and adding interesting obstacles that Rocky has to overcome. This was Sly's first directing gig so I think he's still getting used to it and the movie thus feels a lot less interesting than the next two sequels that Stallone handled much better.

I still considers this vastly superior to Rocky Balboa and better than Rocky V.

It was Sly's 2nd directing credit. Paradise Alley, which came out 1-year before Rocky II was his directorial debut

- Arguably the focus is on Adrian and Rocky's relationship, and Rocky's inner struggle as he grapples with his passion for boxing vs his love for Adrian. Love for Adrian won out, even Mickey supports Adrian for Rocky, showing an arc in his focus as well.

If you can enjoy that aspect of it, the film competes evenly with "Rocky". "Rocky II" is my second fave of the franchise, with "Rocky" being my fave as well. If "Rocky" were actually what we see in "Rocky II", it would be my fave.

* I think that "Rocky" plays the best partly because the secret is in his overcoming of himself and winning Adrian's love while losing the fight. Very inspiring, the idea that going the distance and sharing love with another is greater than winning.

I love Rocky 4. But not for the same reason i love Rocky 1,2,6. To me these movies are where the heart of the Rocky Movies. Rocky 2 is slow, sure. But what really makes the movies to me is not Apollo Ego Trips. It was Rocky struggling to make a home for him and adrian. And Rocky dealing with Adrian complications from giving birth.

Maybe you couldn't get into it because you knew it was predictable Rocky would win the rematch?? And I always enjoyed ROCKY III just because of Thunderlips Brother and I couldn't stand MR.T
