When is this coming out on DVD?

I have been waiting for the offical release of Rockshow on dvd for awhile now but, no information on the release yet. Ive heard rumors of it being released in the USA but I live in Canada and nothing here yet. If anyone has any information about this dvd, if you could please post a message up here I would be most greatful. Thank you.

I don't know, but its got a HEAVY version of 'Band on the Run' that whoops the album cut's ass and a version of 'Bluebird' that has a cool metronome sound and better acoustic guitars.

I bought it on Ebay, but its not official of course. It was the only one on ebay at the time as well..

On McCartney's recent 3 disc set "The McCarntey Years", "Rockshow" is on the third disc. But wait for it... it's a cut version, lasting only around 25 minutes and containing about 5 songs. Shocking. Luckily I recorded it off TV years ago so I just transferred my old vhs copy to dvd. I can't see the full version ever being released, sadly.

This is available on Amazon.com now (albeit via private sellers). Bootlegs are supposedly prohibited.

I bought one in August 2007 from Amazon.

Yeah, I was a little bummed by the teaser of the show they put on the DVD set in 2007. It still looks great and if the audio masters are still in good shape I'd love to hear it in 5.1 I later found out that not all of the concert is actually at the Kingdome but has cuts from The LA Forum, which I believe was the final show. Hard to tell during the show but there is a section where Denny or Jimmy is holding a bass then in a cut back to them they have changed instruments.

I was hoping the teaser would serve as a test to see if fans would dig a complete remaster of the show. Survey says yes!!!!

I'd like to have this on DVD as it is a concert that my wife may be willing to watch with me (she won't watch Zep or the Who...oh well, there's no accounting for taste). She likes the album Wings Over America (I've owned a copy in some form ever since it was released in...76?). Since the album is from this tour, she should be willing to watch it. I watched Wings Over the World when it first hit TV and enjoyed it. I'm a littletorn over which I should buy (given the chance) I like a good informative documentary with concert footage but I also like just having the whole concert for my enjoyment...

Hardcore McCartney fans who like his solo stuff should stop reading this now...

I have to be honest, I love his Wings stuff (this tour is a highlight), but, after "Back to the Egg" he's been on a steep downhill plummet. Particular low points being the duets he did with Wonder and Jackson and don't get me started on the horrible Christmas song he did. His Beatles stuff - fantastic. His Wings stuff -great. The rest? Spare me!

Most critics would agree with you (I wouldn't - I'm a hardcore fan - seeing him in SLC in July) up until 1997 ... From there he's been writing better music exponentially with every subsequent album. His latest solo album under the Fireman is nothing short of awe inspiring. I love Wings as well - he's incorporating a LOT of Wings material in his Up and Coming Tour (2010) - and opening with the same song list he opened up Rockshow - Venus and Mars/Rockshow/Jet - too awesome.

Anyway could let blasphemous remarks stand unchallenged - self admitted though they may be. ;)

McCartney has been rereleasing his older albums lately, many with bonus material including DVDs. So far, he's done Band on the Run, McCartney, and McCartney II. According to the inserts, Wings Over America is in the works. The scuttlebutt is that Rockshow might be included as a bonus DVD. My fingers are crossed. Despite being a hardcore McCartney fan, I've never had the oppotunity to see this. If it's as good as the album, then it'll be worth the wait!

I bought a DVD online - it was apparently a transfer from the laser disc released in the 80s (before that I had a VHS copy taped off from someone who owned the laser disc). I hope you're right - that would be awesome! BOTR had 'One Hand Clapping which I'd not seen before - I'm loving these re-issues (the remastered sound is perfection) - although they're pricey (yeah - had to go for the deluxe book editions of course)! BTW _ saw him in KC and SLC - opened with Venus and Mars/Rockshow/Jet - just how Rockshow opens - which fulfilled a dream - that and Nineteen hundred and Eighty Five!

Rockshow will finally be released on both DVD and Blu-Ray on Monday, June 10 in the UK and Tuesday, June 11 in the USA. Amazon is now taking pre-orders for both the Blu-Ray and DVD versions of Rockshow. Rockshow has been remastered to 5.1 digital stereo sound quality and the picture quality has been restored as well. This transfer contains 7 additional songs not included in the film's original theatrical release back in 1980 nor its VHS, Beta, CED or Laserdisc releases during the early 80's. Back in 1997, VH-1 did broadcast those missing 7 songs but they edited out 2 songs from the original theatrical release version. The restored version's running time is 2 hours and 21 minutes. For those who would like to see it on the big screen, beginning May 15, Rockshow will open in 500 theaters worldwide. Visit http://www.specticast.com/rockshow.jsp for locations, showtimes and where to reserve tickets.

In June 2013 a new restored version of the film was released. The longer 125 minute version was digitally restored from the 35mm negative with the soundtrack remixed in 5.1 surround sound. The film had a limited worldwide cinema re-release on 16 May 2013, with an exclusive introduction and interview with Paul McCartney. An exclusive VIP premiere screening, with McCartney in attendance and introducing the film, took place at BAFTA on 15 May. This restored cut was released on DVD and Blu-ray in June 2013.
