Prophecy did well at the box office

I've seen several reviewers say this film was a flop, which is not the case. I saw this back in the theaters and the audience was above average. The film was made for 12 million dollars and grossed 21 million at the box office. Take into account the price of a movie ticket was only a about $2.50....that is a lot of business. Given that many films lose money or just barely manage to break even, a 9 million profit is considerable even after you subtract advertising.

That's quite good, indeed!

There are a lot of big named films that never made that kind of profit in the theaters, especially when you adjust the ticket prices for inflation. In 1979 it took 4 viewers to equal one dollar of today's box office, so that 21 million would be almost like taking in 84 million at the theaters.
