A thriller? Hardly
I mean the only nasty thing this guy does is ruin the bathroom...and sing horribly. Hardly an auspicious debut for a good director.
Life sucks, then you're reincarnated

this may have been a thriller in 1979, but viewing it now I was just annoyed by it. the plumber obviously was one source but the wife was also annoying. Her lack of any plan to rid herself of this pest was perplexing. She was portrayed as an educated person but lacked any common sense.
I've actually had contractors and handymen who just as inept at their jobs as to cause me to wonder why they were taking so long. Obviously not as bad as the one-man-band scene, but very similar to this plumber. So the reality of modern days ruined the thrill of this film for me.

this was a great little contained gem!
today's special: shrimp ceviche!
The movie goes about its goal in an entirely awkward and completely unbelievable way. But, the objective of the movie is to make you question: "Who is crazy?" The lady thinks that The Plumber is some level of crazy. But, as we find out, it is the lady that is psychotic.
I agree, it isn't a thriller. It's more psychological gamesmanship. And, when The Plumber threatens the lady with physical assault, she cracks right there and decides that she's going to crush him. Which she does. Her look at the end shows she's truly gone over the edge.
