Wimbledon

Is there anybody else out there like me, who queued to become an extra in the crowd at Wimbledon for this film?

After the crowd scenes were finished, we were treated to exhibition matches with the likes of Guillermo Vilas-those of a certain age will understand. I bunked off school for this chance at film history and unfortunately appeared at the head of the queue on the 6 o'clock news that night, which led to a spell in the Head's office the next day!! However the exhibition tennis made up for the punishment.

It was the best thing about the film!!

Yes. I was there. I returned years later covering Wimbledon proper for Channel 9 Australia.

Dawn, now l know it's been 3 yrs since you posed your question, but yes, I was there that day.
I was 12 and had bunked off school, and went to Capital Radio to get the tkts.
TBH, i don't really remember that much about it, but i do remember Guillermo Vilas for nothing else other than his silly name. I found a clip of some others going there on the day and they made a home movie at the time and have since posted it on YouTube. And have located 1 clip of the film as well
I've still never seen the film yet, but at least I've found a few copies in the US on sale from Amazon and may get around to buying it.
You'll just have to read my previous posts about this that I made in 2006.
