Rank The Phantasm Movies

Rank all four of them in your personal order of preference. Mine goes:

Phantasm II
Phantasm
Phantasm IV: Oblivion
Phantasm III: Lord Of The Dead

Love all four, though.

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!

This is one that I can't do. Their variations and similarities seem to keep something of a perfect balancing act for me.

I love them all the same, just in different ways.

1. Phantasm II (7 / 10) - A vast improvement over the first one, this is the 'Evil Dead 2' of the series - highly entertaining, filled with cool sfx and black humor (the chainsaw duel comes to mind). My only complaint would be A. Michael Baldwin's recasting.

2. Phantasm III (6.5 / 10) - Almost as good as part two, the only part I didn't really like was the somewhat confusing relationship between Mike and the Tall Man, especially at the end of the movie. Cool move by Coscarelli to bring Jody back.

3. Phantasm (5.5 / 10) - A disappointing start of the series, you can tell Coscarelli cut this one down to the bone before its release. Too confusing and barely coherent at times, watching this movie was a rather frustraing viewing experience which barely kept my interest most of the time. If I hadn't started the series with part III many years ago, I would've been compeletely lost as to what this movie is about. The best part is the eerie main theme, which is way up there along with John Carpenter's 'Halloween' theme.

4. Phantasm IV - Oblivion (5 / 10) - Too slow to be really entertaining. So a time loop marks the end of the Phantasm saga (at least that's how I took it; Mike simply dying would be too depressing even for me)? Very underwhelming finale to say the least.

I seriously hope a part V will bring the series its well-deserved conclusion, even though I highly doubt it considering Scrimm's and also Bannister's age.

Who are they? And what do they want?

1. Phantasm (an all-time cult classic! Never gets old!!)
2. Phantasm 2 (crazy entertainment in this one!)
3. Phantasm 3 (very entertaining)
4. Phantasm 4 (solid, but not as good as the first 3)

Love this series! I hope we finally get a 5th!

I, II, IV, III

Going station to station is hunky dory but if the trip's low on heroes it can drive Aladdin Sane.

Very hard for me to choose which of the first 2 were better, but I'll go with:

I
II
III
IV

Excited as hell for number 5!

I would rate Phantasm a 7 for rewatchability and memorable characters/originality. Phantasm II would get a 6 for special effects and decent continuation of the story but all the sequels thereafter would be below a 5 rating.
