Where is this movie now?

Has anyone ever seen a copy of this movie or heard anything about it being released again?

reply

I've only seen old copies on eBay, really considering buying one, although they aren't cheap and are only available from ebay.com (not uk :(

Yeah, it's a big bummer... nobody really carries this movie anymore. I just remember owning a copy as a kid and kind of getting really creeped out the first time I saw it. The RAGMAN... *chills* But now I want to see it again. Might have to get one off eBay myself.

I adored the music and would rewatch the film, but the ragman was very real and the two headed mouse... *shudders* SCARY!!! I adored the music. "the dance of the dolls...bum bum ba..."

I'm currently trying to find my old VHS copy of this tape. I'm sure it's in the garage somewhere... This movie mentally disturbed me so much as a child, so of course I must have it perserverd somewhere. haha.

But the point is, if I find it I am definitly going to upload in online and I'll e-mail you about it!

Old copies of the VHS - now out of print - turn up from time to time on Ebay, and one of the producers of the film, or someone like that occasionally sells the original cut, soundtrack, and stills in a package deal for around $50. This was a very weird, very creative movie, with a weird 70's pop soundtrack, and
like everyone else I have never been able to get it out of my head. Christopher Lee is truly brilliant and bizarre as the Ragman, Melissa Gilbert is sweet, Michelle Lee is gentle and soothing as the narrator, it just goes on and on. Why this never got more play - it opened in New Jersey around Christmas '79 for about a week - is beyond me.

Before I spend any money on the movie, I just want to confirm, is this the one where the children who stay up after bed-time are transformed to mice at the very beginning of the movie, if so great movie.

Tkinonen that is the same one I am looking for. It used to scare me a lot when I was little. I hope this is it.

reply

Yeah this is the movie!
The Ragman is freaky!!! And... if you watch it now... you'll not only be a little freaked out you'll also chuckle at the brilliance of it!

Yeah, the "Rag Man"! That part scared the living daylights out of me. This is that version, and I think I'm going to try to buy it too.

reply

It looks as though the Producer is now selling a special package on Ebay with a DVD of the film.

Does anybody know what we have to do to get this officially released on DVD? Is there someone to contact to petition it's release?

reply

My sisters and I always loved this one. Our old VHS copy is almost toast now, so we keep watching on IMDb for DVD info, but nothing so far. If there's anything we can to do encourage the powers that be to release it on DVD, I'd love to help out.
