Is it really SO bad??
I've never watched this movie but I'm curious about it (it has a Henry Mancini score). I know it's about killer bats so I'm not expecting a masterpiece here, but its low rating makes me wonder if it's a waste of time.

shareI loved it and urge you to give it a shot - beautifully photographed and scored, and the location work alone is just stunning and so atmospheric. Plus you can't beat David Warner.
I have the poster framed on my wall.

It is bad, but not completely terrible
3/10When there's no more room in hell, The dead will walk the earth...
Just saw it for the first time and its pretty awful. The music was okay, it have nice scenery but it is very slow and there are to much talking and far less bat attack scenes. Also some of the special effects are laughable even if the movie is from the 70's. All in all I can't give the movie a higher score than 3/10. For good nature attack movies I suggest, Kingdom of Spiders, Piranha,Grizzly or Food of the Goods.
shareThe Mancini score is fine. It has a mellow and beautiful theme, unlike traditional horror scores. However, the movie is a complete waste of time. It is not scary or suspenseful at all except for one brief scene. The plot is very boring, absurdly contrived, talkative, and slow moving.
shareNot bad at all.
shareit's quite good, actually
This is one of those my patents recorded on VHS and I watched over and over when I was about 10 years old. I remember the bat cage reminding me of jaws and the ammonia being in bat pee on the floor. I also distinctly remember an Indian named Abner. i had seen The Island with Warner in it and it was weird seeing him as a good guy.
Those are the little flashes I can remember from being a kid and I think it’s time to check it out again after all these years. I will report back.
