Long boring movie

1 hr. and 40 mins. of looking at Judy Davis's frizzy hair. Torture.

ah, the alternate ending person. a torture for you may indeed be a pleasure for others. you seem a bit self-centered in you critique. don e.

I might agree with Stirchley. This film greatly resonates for feminists and Australians but I suspect others would be bored.

I'm neither a feminist nor an Australian but I really liked this film. What kind of comment is that? I'll watch Judy Davis in practically anything, though, so I was bound to enjoy this to some degree. It's always good to find a three-dimensional female protagonist who doesn't need a man to "complete" herself.

>>> It's always good to find a three-dimensional female protagonist who doesn't need a man to "complete" herself

Grammatically incorrect. You don't say "You complete myself", do you?

And at any rate, the sentence definitely sounds to me like the sentiment of a feminist, and one who is at least slightly hostile towards men.

I wouldn't have said anything, but I found it noteworthy that you began with the "I'm not a feminist" disclaimer, and then went ahead and expressed yourself in terms that sound very feminist, at least to me. Maybe you could clarify in what sense you are not a feminist.

Finally, a person, woman or man, can be three-dimensional and want to be in a relationship with a good person of the opposite sex. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive. (Of course, to some feminists, maybe they are.)

the op should be tortured for his horrible views

You're entitled to your opinion, of course. However, I found it moving and insightful the first time I viewed it years ago, and feel the same way now.

By the way, her hair is not the feature in every scene, in case you didn't see the entire film.

in case you didn't see the entire film.

Obviously I did or I wouldn't have started this thread.
