This film was ahead of it's time

I agree with another poster who commented that there wasn't enough time between when this film takes place (late 60's) and when it was released ('79). There was not enough time for adequate reflection which the original American Graffiti benefited from.

I thought this film was far, far better than it's reputation upon finally viewing it in the early 90's. I will watch it again at some point in the near future to double check that I was correct in my feelings in the 90's having viewed it for the first time back then.

This was pretty daring filmmaking that I think needs another look by fans of the original.
