Disco Moonraker Vs Sea Shanty Nobody Does It Better

The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. The twin peaks (or Toblerone if you prefer) of Sir Roger's Bond tenure.

Both came with sensational open sequences and subsequently fantastic theme songs. However here I'd like us to fast forward - all the way to the end of our VHS cassettes - to compare the jaunty alternate versions thrust into our faces right after Sir Roger's double entendres.

I'm talking of course about Disco Moonraker and Sea Shanty Nobody Does It Better.

Which one do YOU consider to be the best?

I like the disco Moonraker better. It's a nice song to begin with. Not as good as Nobody Does It Better, but the jaunty version of that song does nothing for me beyond a mild chuckle. "Agent Triple-X!"

I think the genius of the sea shanty isn't the version in itself but the way it's played out then cuts straight into the Carly Simon version.

"Keeping the British end up!"
