How did Drax know that Bond would go to Rio?

I just saw this film for the first time, and although there are tons of things that take place with no logical explanation, there is one question I haven't seen asked here. Perhaps I missed where this was explained.

Bond learns that the next phase of Drax's operation will take place in Rio after seeing it printed on a box. So M eventually sends Bond to Rio to investigate further. The next scene shows Drax on the phone with the Henchman Hotline, hiring Jaws to assassinate Bond. Then we see Jaws boarding a plane for Rio.

So how did Drax know what Bond's next move would be? There is nothing in the film that suggests he knows what Bond knows about the Rio operation. Did he just assume that he would end up there? For all Drax knows, Bond and M went looking for the secret laboratory, found it didn't exist, and wound up with a dead end in their investigation.

Actually, Drax is on the phone to get a new chief bodyguard ('henchman'), not to hire an assassin. "Now, regarding a replacement for Chang...".

It's then quite reasonable for Drax to start by sending him to Rio to oversee security while the globes are flown out. Drax may possibly meet him in Rio before heading to the area of the River Tipawhatsit, that's just my guesswork.

He's guarding the warehouse but outside it in carnival gear so he can catch and kill any blabbing burglars or spies. He turns up on the cable care because Holly has been watching Drax planes take off for at least four hours ("Since I've been here, those planes have been taking off every two hours"). And he's part of the river guard when Rog' turns up in his super-cool boat.

So Jaws is not merely a Bond assassin. And Holly of the CIA is as much a menace to Drax as Bond.

Hope that makes sense :-)

Ah, yes. But if you remember during Bond and Chang's fight when they were in the exhibit room, Chang took off up the stairs where Bond followed him. When Bond got upstairs he noticed some crates with the words - C & W - Rio de Janeiro written on them. Right after that Chang jumped Bond and tried choking him with a chain and when Bond was trying to fend off Chang, he slammed him up against one of the crates whereupon he broke it and revealing one of the poisonous globes. And, right after that Bond tossed Chang out the clock tower window. Now, perhaps later on(off-screen of course), either Drax went to the clock tower himself(which I hardly doubt) or one of his minions noticed one of the crates HAD been broken(and reported it to Drax) - and with the knowledge that Bond had killed Chang in the clock tower, would only leave Drax surmising that Bond DOES know about his Rio operation. So with that fact in hand, and, after hiring Jaws, he had Bond followed and that would lead Jaws and Bond up to the point to their confrontation on the cablecar.

"Why me?...I mean, why me?"
