Thank you for childhood memories

MEATBALLS (1979) is such a goofball, slapstick comedy, low-budget, but leaves you feeling something deep down inside that is warm and nostalgic, a kind of wistful looking back at one's own childhood and wondering, wishing what it could have been or had been.

I never experienced a summer camp like in Meatballs and don't actually think I would have liked it for real. But I keep wondering, what if I did experience a summer camp at such a young age and ended up enjoying it?

It's really not about the summer camp. It's about the awkwardness of youth and the deep bond of friendship between an awkward young boy on the cusp of teen years and the sympathetic understanding, friendship, and mentoring from a grown man who is funny, humorous, yet morally upright and honest. It makes many of us wish for memories of such a warm, deep friendship that stays with us all of our lives and becomes an emotional shelter of good feelings in our minds.
