Did Friday the 13th KILL the summer camp comedy movies ?


it didn't seem like anymore came out after the Friday the 13th series got their bloody hands on the subject

I'd say no. I think the genre would've played itself out by the mid-80s, regardless of whether F13 had come along. What I find so endearing about the quintessential "summer camp movie" is the late 70s/early 80s-ness of it. This quality began to fade - for me anyway - by 1983.

Absolutly No,the fact that this series of films alone were released from 1979-1992, then I'd say that neither "Fridat The 13th" or "Sleepway Camp" series had any effect on them at all.

i never thought of it. i think a lot of these genres of the 80s an out of steam by the end of the decade and began again in early 90s.

Legend has it they tried to make more summer camp movies but Jason wouldn't allow it 😔 every time a new one was being made, the production crew would mysteriously end up Dead.

Ernest Goes to Camp came out in the 80s after several of the F13 movies.
