The Gossip Girl in the Mess Hall

Who was this gorgeous creature? She was definitely a product of '70's hair fashion!

Jody was played by Ruth Rennie, one of the local kids they used in the movie in place of paid extras. Her performance was pleasant surprise to all.

Americans seemed to be better looking in the past. I see it in old pictures and old movies, and it's not just from the obesity epidemic.

If you can, take a look at the Wayne's World (1992) DVD special feature about the Brady Bunch. That just seems so eerie to me, because people don't look like that anymore.

Most of the cast was Canadian

reply

It may be true for Canadians also, and Europeans, but it's not as easy for me to see the difference in those groups.

After that scene and the scene preceding it (the girls cabin talking about periods and how you get pregnant) I thought the campers were going to play a larger role in this movie. But after those two scenes they pretty much disappeared, except for Bill Murray's little friend.

reply

According to Ivan Reitman and Daniel Goldberg, the original cut had a lot more material dealing with the CITs. So possibly more scenes with the campers as well.

reply

I did wonder about the campers. The movie was mostly about the CITs except for the aforementioned runner kid.

reply

Yeah, there is a website dedicated to this film, that has the original script. You can see scenes that they didn't use.

This movie was somewhat similar to Caddyshack in that the big name actor/s took a lot of the scenes away from the smaller guys. In the documentary for Caddyshack they go into great detail about how originally the movie was to center around the caddies and what happens at the shack. After they hired the big names that went out the can.

She was damn cute, but as soon as she started talking I wanted to mute the TV.
