In its 5 years of history, MovieChat has devolved from “okay” to “cesspool.” The site owner, Jimbo, has “disengaged himself” (quoting a site moderator), meaning we are riding a rudderless ship. The ignorance (lack of knowledge), stupidity (lack of intelligence), hostility, Narcissism and Sadism levels here are through the roof. To quote Willy Yeats, “The best lack all conviction, while the worst / Are full of passionate intensity . . .” From his poem, The Second Coming. For my money, WB Yeats is the greatest poet in English of the 20th century.

It sounds to me like the owner might be being paid off to let manipulators and propagandists run the site ... and they are paying him more than the site would earn on its own, but that's just a cynical speculation. I wonder who benefits from having social discussion networks turn to garbage? I still think there is a cabal that runs America, one of whose goals is to interfere will all manners of social association ... to throw a spanner into the works of all civic engagement, so to speak.
