Trade fours?

When Woody Allen says to Diane Keaton to "turn off the lights, we'll trade fours," when they are in bed together. What does "trade fours" mean? And why would he say this in bed? Even as a joke?

Rebuild the WTC exactly as before and keep old movies accurate!

Back and forth......back and forth......back and forth......back and forth...

Equal pleasures four measures at a time! It's a jazz reference, but the way he says it in bed definitely related to sex. Woody Allen could say "paperclip" and make it sound sexual.

Is it okay if I do it for mom and not you? 'Cause I really like mom.

"Trading Fours" is a musical term describing a pattern where solo musicians alternate musical passages of a four bar length back and forth. Jazz musicians do this a lot. Allen in the bed scene is using the reference as a sort of jazz-based comic sexual allusion.
