The Mark Linn-Baker issue.

Apologies if this one's been covered before but exactly where is Mark Linn-Baker in Manhattan? I keep reading that this actor made his screen debut in Manhattan, but I'm damned if I can spot him. And as a hardcore Woodyist, I've probably seen this film more times than I've breathed in. So, please, where be Mark?

reply

I've not heard of him but according to the cast list he plays "shakespearean actor". If it's anything like Sigourney Weaver's debut in Annie Hall he's probably only visible for about five seconds and has no lines.

Shakespearean Actor (as Mary Linn Baker)? Seriously? Mary Linn Baker?

There has to be a story as to why he was credited as Mary. I wasn't able to find the reason for that online. Weird. Allen is a stickler for details, and there has to be a reason he was mis-credited. There is no way this was a mistake. And I don't even remember a Shakespeare scene or lines, so I'm not sure where his brief scene is in the movie.

reply

Actually, it IS a mistake. Likewise, the closing credits for ANNIE HALL mention a rising young actor named Christopher "Wlaken" in the role of Duane Hall.
