Soundtrack ?

Love the movie. On the Crown DVD release. Is soundtrack the same as the original film soundtrack? Two things that seem odd: 1)When Tommy chases Kim at the end the chase music sounds like the theme from The Peoples Court. 2) what is that sound that plays a couple times from? It starts off as bleeps and ends in a sort of electric chimes. It happens a few times in the movie, for instance, when Kim tells her mom to F off and gives her the finger, she walks off and the bleep chime thing goes off. It sounds like a something from a public service announcement or something. It's such a weird sounding cue and I laughed each time I heard it. Anyone know where else it's from?

Anyone who ever watched "SCTV" will know that music cue anywhere!

And yes, the theme from THE PEOPLE'S COURT is used at the end. It was a piece of "library" music (available for use for a one-time fee) and turned up in quite a few different things, including a few pornos (I'm told.)

thank you that is SCTV. I knew I had heard it before. THanks for the info on the peoples court music as well.

That is the Peoples Court used at the end. The other music cue used sounds almost identical to the PBS indentification theme of the 70's. I think its about one or two notes different.

Other soundtrack pieces previously turned up in Radley Metzger's Maraschino Cherry and Steve Gibson's XXX 3-D film The Disco Dolls in Hot Skin.

Yes, I vaguely remember that theme on PBS before SCTV started using it, and the "Peoples Court" music is undeniable. I assume there was no irony involved in using it here, but that music just sounds so weird in this context today – in any context, really.

Good to know! I could see that music being use in porn because it's so dramatic and makes it sound like something, um, important is about to happen.

Thanks for the tip on "Television's Greatest Hits"! I see various volumes of those occasionally in used record stores, and I'll pick up Volume Six (and maybe more) the next time I see it.

One of my absolute fav Crown International Films ever made! The poster art is very misleading, making you think it's some goofy high school drive-in comedy (like fellow CIP Double Feature; Coach/The Pom Pom Girls, etc.), but as you know, it's a LOT more interesting than that!

Anyway, I'm still a little confused about the Soundtrack?

The end scene at the beach is "The Big One" by Alan Tew (which I think is also in some 1970s Blaxsploitation films which seems to be uncredited - namely Coffy (1973), and others as well as (I think???), also perhaps present in Quentin Tarantino's "Jackie Brown" (1997) during Pam Grier's "fake freak out scene" at the Shopping Mall (after the money in the Shopping bag gets switched!).

The synth crescendo after several scenes we all know from SCTV I still don't know what it's called and where else I can hear and /or purchase it as a Ringtone, etc. Anyone know where I can find it?

The light/smooth jazz that plays when Kim is turning tricks in Tony's van in the parking lot is also of interest to me if anyone knows that one!?

Lastly, what's the Disco song that plays and loops forever at the dance near the beginning of the movie when everyone is dancing at some lounge? I've tried Tagging it on Shazam and SoundTrack, with no luck.

Thanks for reading and hoping you guys can help me out.
