It is shown on the back of this bluray UK box at the top. Hover over the back of the box picture, and it will zoom in so you can read it. It clearly states "Directed by George Miller with Mel Gibson"
I had NO idea about this. Have any of you heard about this?

Never heard about Mel Gibson having anything to do with helping direct the film but it wouldn't surprise me. George Miller came from a doctor background probably having little to no Experence directing films and given that recent years Mel has been directing more and more films it's possible maybe Mel had little Experence directing and taking film classes and having Experence with other directors (despite not having major film roles before this) and helped Miller get through the directing process. I'm kinda interested to learn more about this if there's anything behind it. Or it could be a box art error.
