Mad Max (CE): Excellent Action, but Light on Everything Else

While George Miller’s “Mad Max” has been hailed as a classic by some, it becomes plain to see that that reputation is not entirely deserved thanks to a bare-bones plot that doesn’t even fill 90 minutes and a subsequently sluggish pace that will leave viewers struggling to stay awake.

It's pretty true.

People will come back with "All of the Mad Max films have a thin plot!"

Well, this is true...but there is a reason both The Road Warrior and Fury Road especially have been dissected and analyzed for themes, meaning and symbolism. As much as people rag on it, Thunderdome is also in keeping with the sequels having themes and idea's to explore. The original is a testament to low budget film-making, but it's pretty bog standard.
